Skype

A number of mebers of Medical School staff regularly make Skype calls. If you need help to set up one of these calls then email [email protected] prior to the day of the call.
Skype calls can be made using a number of different set ups outlined below.  The most likely scenario is for you to set up your own Skype account http://www.skype.com/en/ and manage your calls on your own computer. The basic level of Skype access is free of charge.
Alternatively you could use

  •  A laptop with Skype and a webcam/microphone .
  •  A Skype enabled iPad
  • Skype is available on the Interview room PCs but you need to collect a webcam and microphone from the LT room prior to your calls. You also need to book an interview room. You do this from Public Documents area of Hildegard and then select Room bookings and timetables.

Equipment loan from LT team

Webcams, microphones, laptops and ipads set up for Skype are availble to loan from the LT team .

Group Calls

The Skype Premium account comes with a small charge but it allows conference calls and the sharing of documents. The School has 2 Skype Premium accounts.

  1. Medicine.skype – managed for the research groups by Karen Ross
  2. Medschool.it – managed by the Learning technology team via medhelpdesk

If your call requires a premium account then email [email protected] at least 24 hours before the call.
